Fishing in the Bible

Several of Jesus' disciples were professional fishermen (see Mark 1.16).

Jesus went fishing with his disciples on multiple occasions, a couple times with unforgettable results (see Luke 5.1-11 and John 21.4-11).

Sometimes Jesus' disciples went fishing with...less than stellar results (see John 21.3).

Jesus said that good fathers go fishing in order to provide for their children (Matthew 7.9-11).  Fathers, remember this verse the next time you ask your wife if you can go fishing!

The building of the kingdom of heaven is like fishing.  God calls in different people of all kinds (see Matthew 13.47-50).

Jesus once fed a large crowd with nothing more than five loaves of bread and two fish, presumably caught that day by a young boy (see Luke 9).

Sometimes "casting a hook" when Jesus tells you to can be very rewarding! (See Matthew 17.27)

Jesus enjoyed cooking and eating fish (see Luke 24.42 and John 21.9-15)

The Bible is clear: you should go fishing!
